AI – Agents & Assistants
Natural language is becoming the new gateway to the business system, enabling faster insights and higher productivity across the entire organization.
AI agents and digital assistants provide your employees with direct access to the business system through natural language. When the solution is implemented correctly, your business gains immediate access to answers, insights, and actions—without having to go through reports, queues, or specialists. The result is faster decision-making, higher productivity, and greater value from your business systems.
Two Types of AI, One Crucial Difference
An AI assistant answers questions and directs users to data and documentation, without making any changes to the system. An AI agent goes one step further: it suggests or carries out actions within your processes, always with approval and traceability. This distinction determines which solution is best suited for each situation, and most businesses need both.
Assistants: provide answers and guidance
An assistant reviews your data and documentation and responds directly within the workflow. The assistant doesn’t make any changes to the system, but makes knowledge that would otherwise be held by individual people available to everyone.
The Article Assistant
Setting up items in the business system requires familiarity with the system, and new employees often end up waiting in line to see the superuser. The Item Assistant answers questions about items and master data directly using your live data, ensuring that the correct setup is the first choice rather than a guess.
Process Support
Process knowledge is rarely centralized. It resides in people’s minds and in scattered documentation, and the same question is answered over and over again. The process support tool combines your documentation with context from the ERP system and provides an immediate answer on how a task should be performed within your process.
Warehouse Assistant
These days, a simple inventory query often requires a report, a BI queue, or a key person. The Inventory Assistant makes inventory data in Data Lake available in natural language, so that more people can answer operational questions on their own.
Agents: operate within your processes
An AI agent suggests or carries out actions in the business system. The decision is always yours, but the agent does the legwork and leaves a traceable record of each step.
The Certificate Agent
Supplier certificates end up as PDF files in the inbox, and their expiration dates are often overlooked until they’re noticed during a production stoppage or an audit. The certificate agent reads, validates, and registers the certificate in M3 with full traceability.
The Invoice Agent
Discrepancies between invoices, orders, and receipts tie up experienced staff, especially when volumes are high. The invoice agent suggests matching and posting, along with a rationale, for invoices that are excluded from automated processing. The decision remains yours; the agent does the groundwork.
The Deviation Agent
Deviations are often documented in free-form text and classified differently depending on who writes them, which means that root cause analysis is rarely completed. The deviation agent classifies the deviation, links it to previous similar cases, and suggests a root cause and corrective action.
The Sequence Agent
The production sequence is often created in Excel by a single person using rules of thumb for setup time, allergens, and promotions, which makes the knowledge dependent on that individual and difficult to explain to others. The Sequence Agent suggests a sequence based on your rules and shows why it looks the way it does.
The Planning Agent
A large part of a planner’s day is spent dealing with exceptions: shortages, rescheduling, and delayed deliveries. The planning agent monitors these exceptions and suggests actions, while the planner retains the final decision.
Why Navcite
An AI agent project doesn’t start with the technology—it starts with your processes and decisions. We identify where knowledge currently resides with individual employees, where the same questions are asked over and over again, and where wait times are costing you more than they should. Based on that, we determine whether the solution should be an assistant, an agent, or a combination of both, and how it should be built to integrate with your M3 or Business Central environment.
An AI agent project doesn’t end at go-live. We manage and further develop the solution as your processes evolve, and we handle the entire chain: business systems, integration, data, and the architecture that enables the agent to actually function in your real-world environment. An AI agent cannot solve any problem for which it has not been provided with the proper context to understand it.
Questions About AI Agents and Assistants
A clear definition of the problem the solution is intended to solve, and access to relevant data and documentation. We assess both of these aspects before anything is built.
Every action an AI agent suggests or performs is logged and linked to supporting documentation, so it is always possible to see what was done, why, and who approved it.
No. An AI agent is worth the investment when the volume is high or the expertise is person-dependent. If the process is infrequent or already running smoothly, simpler automation is often the right first step.
An integration transfers data between systems according to fixed rules. An AI agent interprets a situation, suggests or takes an action based on it, and provides a basis for decision-making, rather than simply executing a workflow.
